If your looking for a great Islamorada fishing charter and a captain that works hard for you, than ReelFishin Charters can hook you up for a great sportfishing experience in the Florida Keys. ReelFishin sportfishing charters offers some of the best sport fishing charters in Islamorada, Key Largo and the Florida Keys.  Located just south of Key Largo at mm 90.5 with Islamorada as home port, ReelFishin Charters has fast access to some of the finest sportfishing available in the Florida Keys. ReelFishin Charters guides with a focus on quality professional service, quality equipment and experience to put anglers on the fish. We fish an area that includes the Islamorada hump, Floyds Wall and waters up to 50 miles offshore. The beautiful, blue waters of the Florida Keys, the coral reefs and close proximity to the Gulf Stream offers a  great angling experience with many opportunities for game fish.  Capt. John Bielat skippers the 32' Whitewater with years of Florida Keys fishing experience and a lifetime passion for saltwater angling.

With our fully equipped offshore fishing boat a 32' Whitewater with twin Yamaha 200's  we get to the fish fast and safely.  The center console design gives anglers the ability to battle fish from any place on the boat. The bow cuddy cabin is equipped with a head and bunks for resting. All types of fishing rods are stored in the overhead cabin racks insuring all needed tackle is onboard to tackle the many species of fish found in the Florida Keys. Safety gear exceeds US Coast Guard standards and includes a 6 man inflatable life raft, global epirb, lifejackets and all other necessary US Coast Guard safety equipment. The exceptional quality, custom built Whitewater hull allow for a smooth, safe ride even in difficult waters getting anglers to the fishing grounds and home faster than most other charter boats. A top of the line offshore boat that handles the Florida keys fishing waters extremely well.

We spend a great deal of time fishing offshore of Islamorada in the gulf stream which can be from only a few miles from shore to over 30 miles. The gulf stream offers fast moving current and blue waters with  many pelagic species like  dolphin, blackfin and yellowfin tuna, sailfish , marlin ,wahoo, cobia and sharks. It is a great experience to run to these fishing grounds and battle with the game fish of the Florida Keys tropical waters.

The Islamorada reef edge is only 6 miles from shore. It will hold many different species of fish including the traveling offshore pelagic. Sailfish charters are generally done on the reefs edge along with kingfish , grouper, snapper, dolphin, tuna and amberjacks. Live bait is used extensively on charter boat ReelFishin and many times is on the boat before departing. Some live baits such as ballyhoo is caught on the way out due to the fact it does not hold in tanks near shore. Whenever possible we provide live bait which we keep in pens at the marina so no time is wasted on your fishing charter.

We also offer Florida Keys Gulf side fishing charters where there are tarpon, spanish mackerel,  sharks, snapper. The tarpon fishing is done with live baits and offers anglers an excellent opportunity to catch giant tarpon on light tackle. Shark fishing is great Gulf side along  with spanish mackerel , sea trout, jacks, barracuda and others. These Gulf trips are an excellent opportunity to fish if rough waters are present offshore and anglers wish to calmer gulf side conditions.

Sailfish are a favorite species of sport fish in the Florida Keys. The best season starts in December and runs through March. Most of the sailfish we are catching are everaging 50-60 ponds with some sails pushing toward the 100 pound mark. Small pods of sails are often hunting together so multiple hook up are common of 2 or 3 fish. Sailfish are an acrobatic and long winded sport fish that will challenge the seasoned angler with a generally cautious bite, hard initial run and consecutive jumping. We use light fishing gear in the 20 pound class and employ many different techniques to entice the bite including trolling, kite fishing, casting. We encourage the release of all sailfish unless there is a record fish caught.

Dolphin (mahi mahi) are probably the most sought after species in the Islamorada offshore fishing area. Dolphin are year round targets in the Florida Keys with our best runs starting in March and extending through the summer months. Generally traveling in schools of smaller to medium fish with the largest fish traveling in pairs or alone. They are great fighters that  jump when hooked making hard runs on the light 20-30 pound tackle. Most fish will be averaging 10 pounds with the largest ranging over 40-60 pounds. We use different fishing techniques including trolling, live baiting, chumming, casting. These are a great eating fish which are fillet for you at the end of day.

King Mackerel are a hard hitting favorite at the Florida Keys reef edge. These structure oriented fish are winter residents ranging from 8 to over 50 pounds with an average size of around 20 pounds. The best months from December through March offer great action. Light tackle and wire leaders are used with quality live or dead baits trolled, kite fished or offered at drift and chum. Kings are great fighters with long, hard initial runs and a profound determination to keep away at boat side. While trolling baits close to the surface we have many kings jumping and crashing our offerings with fast, horizontal shots out of the water making for an exciting hookup.  King mackerel are great eating fish with many cooking options including grilling, baking, pan frying.

Wahoo are a great sport fish found in the Florida Keys that are extremely fast, hard hitting and long winded. Most wahoo in the Islamorada area average 20 or more pounds with some fish exceeding 50. Wahoo love floating debris and weed lines holding in the area near the surface or deep to ambush their prey. We catch good numbers of wahoo when they are present in the Islamorada offshore fishing areas. Fast trolling high speed lures, live bait trolling or tossing live baits to surface structure works best  for these exciting fish. Wahoo are great eating and should be steaked for best results.

Blackfin tuna are year round residents off the shores of the Florida Keys, Islamorada and Key Largo. Fishing the Islamorada hump and other areas offshore we catch a lot of tuna with multiple hookups common from this schooling fish. The blackfin will range from a few pounds to over 30 pound with most fish averaging around 10. They are hard fighters and without a doubt long winded giving the angler a lot of fight for their size. Most fish are taken while trolling but we also use live baits and kites. Great eating blackfin are steaked, grilled, fried or wherever good tuna is used.

Grouper are year round residents in the Florida keys and we have a number of different species. Fishing techniques include live baiting, trolling and deep dropping and chumming around bottom structure in water from 30 to over 150' Grouper get big and will fight hard making a great effort to return to their ambushing structure. Anglers must keep fish from returning or loss will most likely occur. Grouper are excellent eating and may be cooked numerous ways. Note: Grouper fishing is now closed in the Keys thru April.

Tarpon fishing is best from April through July with May being a favorite month. There are great numbers of tarpon where we fish and can often be seen in the shallow water. We tarpon  fish with live baits and catches are generally with  fish ranging from 60 pounds up to 150. Tarpon fight hard and long with magnificent jumping with battles often exceeding 1 hour. These great sport fish are released although a permit may be purchased prior to fishing for killing and retaining.

What some fisherman have to say about our Florida Keys and Islamorada fishing charters!

Captain John, Thank you for the Islamorada fishing charter on Tuesday. It sure is nice to go with someone who is honest and above board. We had a great time and will come back the Florida Keys to fish with you on our next  fishing trip.  It was so nice to get out and learn from your experience, I will pass on your information to everyone that I know. Again thank you for the great trip and in a few months I will call you to set up another time. Chris & Tammy Nutter

Hey John, Kevin here………. I just want to thank you so much for guiding us in the Florida Keys to the best fishing we have ever seen. I have told many people about our trip and had the proof ( LOTS OF GOOD PICTURES ) I can’t wait until next years sailfish trip. Very good job John and thanks a million again. Regards, Kevin Nesbit.

I have been a serious fisherman for nearly 50 years and have had the opportunity to fish with many guides all over North America including Mexico and Canada. In my opinion Capt. John Bielat sets the standard for what a guide should provide, good equipment, comfortable accommodations and the knowledge and experience to consistently put clients on quality fish and lots of them. For those who want to experience a great day of fishing with an outstanding guide call Capt. John. You won’t regret it. Mike Chilson

The only place we'll go for sailfish is down the Florida keys. We had such a great time ! That was by far the best fishing experience we have ever had. We haven't stopped talking about, haven't stopped looking at pictures and are bummed out to have had to leave. We will definitely be back for sailfish, hopefully longer, and thanks for such a great time.  Keep in touch and think of us when you see the weather in the Northeast .
Take it easy ! Dave , Mike , Kevin

Hi Capt. John,
This is Craig. I went on a trip of yours with my son Brett, a few days ago. I just want to thank you again for a great time. Those jumping tuna were out of this world! Brett is constantly talking about the fish he caught. I will probably talk to you in week or so and book an offshore trip. I have attached a few pictures. Craig

Captain John,
Thanks again for the amazing trip.  The fish has been very tasty and we definitely plan on coming back again next year.  Here are some pictures from our trip.   Thanks again!! Amanda & Bill

 Captain John,
Thanks again for taking us out this weekend.  It was a great time! If you can send me any of the pictures you took on Saturday when we caught a few of those dolphin, that would be great. I caught the big one that day early- the 25ish pounder cow.  You took a few pictures of that.  My buddy Steve (with the nice haircut) caught the good sized bull.  You got a few of that one as well. Thanks again. Marc Marc J. Del Gaudio, CFP Managing Director
